Council estates, stark palettes and minimal silhouettes dominated Matthew Miller’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection in his continuing fascination with urban landscapes. At first glance this was Miller’s most wearable collection to date from the grey scale gradient striped short-sleeve knit, parred down dark grey suiting to light summery smart armless short two-piece.
Stripped away were the bright acidic palettes of the past, in favour of a monochrome palette of black, grey, white, cream and vanilla. Although the palette and shapes were of a more subtle functional affair than we have become used to from Matthew Miller, he didn’t disappoint with an array of playful detailing. From lazer cut slogan’s on parred down white shirting, quirky statement stitching, oversized hiking metal placements helped add a dash of excitement to all-over CCTV optic prints.
